Question #18
Rita
Chief of Traffic Police, Udine Branch

Why are so few foreign heavy vehicles stopped and checked?

They are, and frequently. People who use the motorway probably don’t notice them because checks are carried out at the service stations or when entering or exiting the motorway. Stopping a heavy vehicle along the motorway is – as we can all appreciate – highly dangerous and takes time and instruments. We have special hotspots which are equipped for this kind of control, set up at the toll booths which record the highest volume of traffic.
