Question #10

Why are motorways always closed on Saturday nights for work?

The more complex work is scheduled over a longer period of time and when there is less traffic, like between Saturday night and Sunday morning.
It gets more complicated in the summer and we try to limit closures to an absolute minimum, so we don’t cause too much disruption on the local roads.
While the motorway can handle 2,800 vehicles an hour, A and B roads can only manage 400-500 at the most.
